SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY — October 22, 2026. A storm on Wednesday, October 21, caused reported power disruptions and travel problems in parts of San Luis Obispo County. According to Cal Coast News, PG&E’s outage information showed at least 500 customers affected east of Paso Robles near Shandon, and another 500 or more east of Atascadero. Smaller interruptions were also reported elsewhere in the county.

Roads and weather hazards
The report also described a rockslide temporarily blocking a South County intersection and a possible downed power line near Highway 41 and Center Street in Templeton. Those were Wednesday incident reports; they do not establish that the roads remain closed Thursday. Consult Caltrans QuickMap and local agencies before travel.
Are these the same as the October 16 safety shutoffs?
No automatic connection should be made. A prior PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff event affected portions of San Luis Obispo County around October 16–17, but the October 21 storm outages were reported separately. County emergency information explains the earlier event; PG&E’s live map is the appropriate source for the current incident.
What about neighboring communities?
Residents in Paso Robles, Templeton, Shandon and Atascadero should check their specific locations. This report does not claim that all four communities lost electricity. The storm also prompted broader California-wide outage reporting.
